press : new vision recordings - nvcdlp001 - rareform - rareforms of madness the remix l.p.
review of new vision recodings - nvcdlp001 - knowledge magazine, april 2002 :
remix album featuring a selection of highlights from the new vision back catalogue and, when you look at it laid out like this,
there's some weighty tracks been put through the label.
featured here are mixes from established artists like total science and spirit alongside new breed contenders like futuretech,
the dope ammo crew, red math and rareform themselves. they only appear once on the album, which is a bit odd, closing the session
with their fierce and haunting mix of 'suffocate in silence', and that gnarly brew sums up the stance of the album as a whole.
admittedly this isn't a blinder ( just check out the competition on this page alone ), but it's the sound of a label in development
and this retrospective volume bodes well for the future.

review of new vision recodings - nvcdlp001 - breakin' point magazine, may 2002 :
on receiving this in the post i was a bit dubious of its contents, this was mainly due to the
remix work done on tracks that i hadn't even heard previously.
with this in mind i slipped it into the cd player and had a listen. there's 10 tracks on this album,
remixes from spirit, total science, dope ammo, futuretech, and a host of others boost the appeal of the album,
tracks include 'spine chilla' which gets spirit doing the honours on the remix tip. 'depthcharge' named after the
long running oxford saturday night venue introduces the album with a remix from blanko on a more than old skool slant.
total science get down to brass tacks with the abstract sounding 'banal', this has to be the best track on the album.
with other tracks including 'fear grips', 'angel kiss', nailed', shine forever' (dope ammo remix) and 'suffocate',
it's an ok offering from these oxford producers, and with a little help from the masters on the remix,
credibility is added to the whole collection. all i can say about these guys is that i'm looking forward to hearing future offerings.
keep on trucking guys !

review of new vision recodings - liverpool university student magazine, may 2002 :
rareform came to me by text message. a mate sent me one saying that i should check out rareform.
he'd heard a tune of there's called 'suffocate in silence' and he swore to me that it'd be right up my street.
this is from a mate who thought 'informer' by snow was the greatest tune of all time. so it's fair to say i was sceptical.
on reflection i can honestly say that 'suffocate in silence' is a proper tune. new vision recordings' rareform have taken their
drum n' bass sound down a different avenue while at the same time mixing it with an old skool rave vibe and at first you might not
like that road but stick with it because this isn't an album of experiments and there's strong work on 'angel's kiss' with some of
the spookiest vocals ever.
there's something promising here for the future.

review of new vision recodings - future music magazine, may 2002 :
one minute drum & bass is dying on its ass the next its flavour of the month but which ever
side of the bed the shoreditch media wankerati has dragged its mulleted back side from this
afternoon the fact remains while the scene is stagnent in places theres always room for
quality and that a bounds on this remix lp.
this seventy minutes of dark and furious d&b mentalism, while not exactly new is a must
have for anyone into the more intense frenzied side of drum & bass.
as the title suggests remixes abound with steriling work from dope ammo futuretech, poisonflow and time frame.

review of new vision recodings - nvcdlp001 - lexicon magazine, may 2002 :
4-piece act rareform from the new vision stable mail out their tracks to
some friends and big name artists for the remix treatment. the likes of
dope ammo, total science, futuretech and spirit make this an interesting project.
firstly remember that rareform is a live act and don't just
concentrate on pushing pure dance floor biz. the first noting of this is
in ts's 'off world edit' of 'banal', serving up a very blame-esque,
sparse and futuristic cut.
then you have a brooding remix in the typical style of futuretech we have
all come to know. 'angel kiss' is something different, probably my favourite track,
it intros with a sweet guitar riff, warm synths reminiscing, plenty of hazy bass and a break
that clouts you round the head a few times.
not really feeling the spirit remix, red math works overtime in paying old skool homage but the
dope ammo guys come through with the 2nd of their 2 remixes with a nice uplifting / party vibe.

review of new vision recodings - nvcdlp001 - square magazine, may 2002 :
well how can i put this. it's been a long time since i've heard drum and bass that truly come out of it's "samey" little shell,
and stands out to make a difference to music itself.
i'll take my hat off to anyone who can create an original old school vibe in this day and age.
and that is exactly what rareform have done here.
with wicked remixes from the likes of dope ammo, total science, red math, and poisonflow,
our boys have managed to put together and album of little gems.
my favourites on the album have to be the appropriately named "angel kiss," who's harmoney
is guaranteed to send those little goose bumps straight up your spine, and "suffocate in silence,"
who's bassline is guaranteed to slap your synapses around for the duration.
this album comes highly recommended to those of you on a quest to retain the true essence of the drums and the bass.... arent we all ?

review of new vision recodings - nvcdlp001 - square magazine, july 2002 :
innovative drum & bass, indulge yourself, sit back in your motor and let it ride you down to the deep sweet sounds.
intrumental ( no vocals, just the way i like ) heavy heavy but changeable verging on ambience but on a progressive tip
diving into the industrial d'n'b sounds.
heard the saying, there is no black or white only shades of grey. these words remind me of the changeable dark and light tones used on this cd.
what more can i say ... we like it ... i like it ... buy it.
